An inspection officer is a person who is certified and has knowledge of the Planning and Building Act and applicable regulations. Today, it is a legal requirement to hire an inspection officer, and it is the municipality that decides whether an inspection officer is required in the specific construction project. In the case of smaller construction projects, it may be sufficient to draw up a simple control plan.
A controller does the following:
Creating a proposed control plan
Ensures that the control plan is followed and that the necessary checks are carried out by craftsmen
Attends technical consultations, site visits, inspections and other controls, as well as the building committee's site visits and final consultation
Documents their site visits and notes their observations and which can be the basis for evaluation before the final consultation
The role of the inspector is not to carry out any inspections of the building himself, but to be the one who ensures that the inspections are carried out according to the inspection plan. The controller also ensures that the controls are documented so that they can be reported to the authorities.
